Adelphi students have the opportunity to study in Asia, South America, Europe and just about everywhere in between. It is a life-transforming experience. Some students discover a new passion during their travels and return to change their majors. For others, a trip abroad reaffirms the paths they were on in real and tangible ways:
“It awakens your soul.” says Alexandra Wurglics ’16 on her experience spending a semester at John Cabot University in Florence, Italy.
Thomas Gonzalez ‘17 describes his 2016 trip to Cuba with his film professor: “It may be a cliché but I came back a different person. I learned a lot about myself and became proud of my Latino heritage. Also, for the first time, I felt like I was on the right career track and that working with cameras is what I want to do for the rest of my life.”
When Calvin Garcia ‘17 was questioning whether or not to major in nursing, he says: “That January I went to Guatemala. I came back and I said I have to do this. This is the thing I am meant to do. I loved it. I loved working in the sun for long hours, coming back getting rest, and doing it all over the next day. I want to be on my feet for 12 hours and help people. I want to wake up at the crack of dawn and go to the hospital.”
Your gift today will help Panthers take flight. It will help offset the costs of airline tickets for deserving Adelphi students who wish to spend a semester abroad. Many students can’t take advantage of these opportunities due to the heavy financial burden associated with them, but you can help our students get their feet of the ground.
